TWICE's 2026 JYP contract renewal

Period
2026-07 ~ 2026-10
Where it stands
Jeongyeon (Aug. 10) and Chaeyoung (Aug. 13) personally announced they are leaving JYP while staying in TWICE. Reports said Tzuyu and Jihyo would also leave, but JYP said only that renewal talks were under way. Final results for the other members had not been officially announced in the coverage reviewed (through early October).

TWICE debuted in 2015, and all nine members renewed with JYP in July 2022. As those contracts neared expiry in 2026, a second renewal round began. On July 14 outlets reported that Tzuyu and Jihyo would leave JYP; the label said only that talks were ongoing. In August Jeongyeon said in a handwritten letter that she was moving to Baro Entertainment, and Chaeyoung said she would pursue her own music. Both said they would keep doing TWICE group activities, which Korean media described as a 'separate but together' model splitting individual management from group work.

Fact Claim Disputed Rumor Not true

Background: the second renewal

In K-pop, members often scatter at the first renewal after seven years, so TWICE's full renewal in 2022 was reported as unusual. As that contract approached expiry in 2026, a second negotiation began. TWICE had just finished its 'THIS IS FOR' world tour after 81 shows, and Korean outlets noted that the 11-year-old group remains a core revenue source for JYP.

Issue: leaving the agency, staying in the group

Jeongyeon and Chaeyoung made clear they would keep doing TWICE group activities even after changing agencies. Korean outlets explained this as splitting individual management contracts from group-activity contracts, citing BLACKPINK, whose members handle solo work through different companies while doing group work with their original label.

Under this model artists can pick companies suited to acting, solo music or endorsements, while the original label keeps group revenue from tours and albums. The terms of any TWICE group-activity agreement have not been disclosed.

What is not yet confirmed

Tzuyu's and Jihyo's departures were reported on July 14, but no final announcement by them or JYP was found in the coverage reviewed here. For Tzuyu, the line 'has not renewed' spread on Reddit as settled fact, but it rests on a News1 report. Renewal results for Nayeon, Momo, Sana, Mina and Dahyun have not been officially announced either.
