Four girl groups, seven boy groups: the second half in numbers

As of Oct. 24, Korean agencies had officially debuted 11 new groups since July: four girl groups (OURBIRTHDAY, TUIDE, AIWEO and A2O LITE) and seven boy groups (VAYONN, EMOTI:M, AEN, WAYF BOYS, Splayit, A2O SOUL and B THE HOOD). AIWEO and Splayit are bands, B THE HOOD is a virtual group and AEN is a Japan-focused group. By month, two debuted in July, five in August and four in October; the reports checked for this page show no Korean-agency rookie group making its official debut in September. Lineups range from four members (AIWEO) to 15 (A2O SOUL).

The only remaining debut with a date is ADAP on Nov. 5, and A2O SOUL releases its debut album on Nov. 9. Five more have been announced without a date: WE GO-6 (October), OUIBOYS (end of year), YG's boy group and girl group, and SM's boy group. Only one of the five, YG's, is a girl group.

The big agencies: JYP and HYBE debuted girl groups in August; YG and SM have no dates

In August two girl groups from major agencies arrived five days apart: OURBIRTHDAY from JYP subsidiary INNIT Entertainment on Aug. 19 and TUIDE from HYBE label ABD on Aug. 24, both with seven members. First-week sales on the Hanteo Chart were 111,324 for OURBIRTHDAY and 112,282 for TUIDE, and each report described its figure as 10th among girl-group debuts as of its own date. Sports Kyunghyang noted that TUIDE fell short of the roughly 300,000 first-week sales of earlier HYBE girl groups such as LE SSERAFIM and NewJeans.

YG announced on April 30 that a five-member boy group would debut in September, but it did not. On Oct. 14 Yang Hyun-suk said both that group and a four-member girl group would record demos through the end of the year and set dates after choosing title tracks. SM confirmed in January that a boy group would debut in 2026; on Sept. 20 eight SMTR25 trainees appeared at an NCT 127 concert, prompting speculation they are the debut lineup, which SM has not confirmed.

Lee Soo-man's A2O launched a boy group and a girl group on the same day

SM Entertainment founder Lee Soo-man unveiled the 15-member boy group A2O SOUL and nine-member girl group A2O LITE together through A2O Entertainment on Oct. 12, and each released its debut song on Oct. 13. They are his first groups in Korea since a three-year noncompete, signed when he sold his SM stake to HYBE in 2023, expired in February 2026. Both acts operate in one shared universe, called ACE, in which member combinations change, and both songs were produced by Yoo Young-jin.

A2O LITE's "NEON" reached No. 1 on Melon's Top 100 about 29 hours after release. According to Korea JoongAng Daily, the previous fastest was about three days, by ALLDAY PROJECT's "FAMOUS" in 2025. The Korea Times noted that all nine A2O LITE members are minors, three of them 13, in a report on debates over protecting child performers. A2O SOUL releases a five-track debut album on Nov. 9.

LEVVELS' B THE HOOD is a virtual boy group that appears as 3D characters, and AEN, made by Starship with Japan's Amuse, released its debut album the same day in Korea and Japan.
