Danielle June Marsh (born 11 April 2005) is an Australian and South Korean singer. She is best known as a former member of the South Korean girl group NewJeans.
Danielle began her career in the entertainment industry by making several appearances on television as a child, before debuting as a member of NewJeans in 2022. The group was formed by ADOR, a subsidiary of Hybe. The following year, Danielle ventured into acting, voicing Ariel in the Korean language dub of The Little Mermaid (2023). Following a contract dispute, Danielle was removed from NewJeans at the end of 2025.
1. Early life
Danielle June Marsh, Korean name Mo Ji-hye (Korean: 모지혜),[3] was born on 11 April 2005, in Newcastle, New South Wales, Australia, to an Australian father and a South Korean mother.[1] She has an older sister, Olivia Marsh, a singer who made her debut in 2024.[9][10] In 2009, at the age of four, Danielle and her family moved to Paju, South Korea.[11]
2. Career
2.1. 2011–2021: Pre-debut activities
In 2011, Danielle made her first television appearance on tvN's Rainbow Kindergarten and SBS's My Heart's Crayon.[12] She went on to appear on Shinhwa Broadcasting and Jesse's Play Kitchen in 2012.[12] In 2012, at the age of seven, Danielle returned to Australia to attend primary school.[11][13]
Danielle returned to South Korea and became a K-pop trainee in 2020.[11]
2.2. 2022–2023: Debut with NewJeans and acting

On 22 July 2022, Danielle made her debut alongside NewJeans with the release of their debut single, "Attention", which she co-wrote.[14][15] She has since participated in the songwriting of five NewJeans songs.[15] "Attention" topped South Korea's Circle Digital Chart and won Best K-pop Song at the 20th Korean Music Awards.[16][17]
In 2023, Danielle voiced Ariel in the Korean dub of The Little Mermaid (2023).[18] Danielle's acting and singing in the film were praised after the first screening.[19] She recorded several songs for the soundtrack of the film, including the single "Part of Your World", which was released on 17 May 2023, and debuted at number two on Billboard's Hot Trending Songs.[20][21]
2.3. 2024–present: Contract dispute and termination by ADOR
In May 2024, Danielle hosted the Korea on Stage – New Generation concert, organised by the Cultural Heritage Administration.[22] On 28 November 2024, amid disputes between ADOR's former CEO Min Hee-jin and its parent company Hybe, Danielle and the other members of NewJeans announced that they had terminated their contracts with ADOR, while ADOR maintained that the contracts remained "in full effect".[23]
In November 2025, the Seoul Central District Court ruled the contracts that the members' contracts with ADOR were valid until 2029.[24] ADOR announced the termination of Danielle's exclusive contract, stating that it would be difficult for her to continue as a member of NewJeans, and said it planned to hold a member of her family and Min Hee-jin responsible for the dispute.[25] The following day, ADOR sued Danielle, her family member, and Min for ₩43.1 billion (US$37.68 million)[2] in damages.[26] Danielle subsequently appointed legal representation, and hearings in the case began in May 2026.[27][28]
In June 2026, Danielle filed a complaint with South Korea's Fair Trade Commission (KFTC) against Hybe and ADOR, alleging that she had been treated differently from the other NewJeans members during the contractual dispute. Her representatives also challenged penalty provisions in standard K-pop artist contracts that calculate compensation based on projected revenue and the remaining contract term rather than an agency's actual losses. The KFTC began reviewing the complaint that month.[29][30]
3. Other ventures
In January 2023, Burberry announced that Danielle had become one of their global ambassadors.[31] Later, in March, she became a global brand ambassador for Yves Saint Laurent Beauty and appeared in a promotional campaign for their Candy Glaze lipstick.[32] In March 2024, Danielle became a global brand ambassador for Celine.[7][33] In May 2024, she appeared in her first promotional campaign for Celine, developed by Hedi Slimane, the brand's creative director.[34] In December 2024, Danielle became an Omega ambassador.[35]
