The ZE:A years and military service

  • Group years. Looking back on roughly seven years as an idol, Park said he worked "like a machine": singing, riding in a van, eating, and heading to the next show. While still in the group he appeared in SBS's The Heirs in 2013.1,2
  • Enlistment. He entered the Nonsan training center in South Chungcheong Province on June 10, 2019, and was reported to be assigned to the military police unit of the Capital Defense Command after basic training. Known as the "baby soldier" from the variety show Real Men, he applied to that unit himself. (Military service is mandatory for most Korean men.)3
  • Return. At the November 2021 press event for Happiness, he said he had only recently been discharged, which suited the detective role.4

How he moved from the group to acting is compared with other idol-turned-actors in the Hallyu Wiki explainer "Idols turned actors: the route from stage to screen."
