Actress Ha Young: from The Trauma Code to Our Sticky Love

Who she is: from art school to acting

Ha Young told OSEN that she majored in Western painting at Ewha Womans University and spent a year in graduate school at New York's School of Visual Arts before leaving to act. People around her urged her to start sooner, and Doctor Prisoner (2019) became her debut. She later played Kim Jin-ju, the male lead's first love, in Netflix's Doona!; Bizhankook noted at the time that she had also drawn attention for a special appearance in Extraordinary Attorney Woo. Cheon Jang-mi in The Trauma Code

• The role. In The Trauma Code, released January 24, 2025, Ha Young plays Cheon Jang-mi, a senior nurse who works with surgeon Baek Kang-hyuk (Ju Ji-hoon) to revive a failing trauma center. The Korea Herald describes the part as one of the show's three main roles.^1,2,8
• Netflix performance. For the week of January 27 to February 2, the series drew 11.9 million views and took No. 1 on Netflix's global non-English TV chart, ten days after release. It ranked first in 17 countries and reached the Top 10 in 63, pushing Squid Game season two to No. 2 that week.^2,3
• Award. At the APAN Star Awards in December 2025, she won Best New Actress for The Trauma Code and KBS2's Face Me.⁴

Her 2026 lead role: Our Sticky Love

Our Sticky Love is a romantic comedy whose 12 episodes Netflix released at once on August 7, 2026. Ha Young plays Go Eun-sae, an ambitious prosecutor who loses her memory; Jung Hae-in plays Jang Tae-ha, a boxing coach who claims to be her boyfriend. Kim Jang-han directed. The Korean title plays on "yeot," a sticky traditional sweet whose name is also crude slang. After placing fifth in week one, the show hit No. 1 on Netflix's global non-English TV chart in its second week (August 10–16) with 7.5 million views, ranking first in 26 countries and Top 10 in 68. Planned cast interviews were canceled, however, because of the controversy that broke around its release.

Since August: controversy and exit from The Trauma Code

• Controversy. In August 2026, reports that Ha Young's great-grandfather had taken part in a pro-Japanese organisation during the colonial era drew criticism, and she issued a handwritten apology on August 12. This page covers only the parts that affected her acting work.^7,8
• Leaving The Trauma Code. Netflix said on September 1 that Ha Young would not appear in the follow-up seasons, and her agency said the decision reflected her own wishes. As of September 23, Netflix said nothing had been confirmed about who would take over the role.^8,9,10,12
• Seungsan Itseumnida. Her SBS drama with Lee Je-hoon was in its final days of shooting in early September and was aiming for a 2027 broadcast. As of September 30, SBS said only that it was reviewing scheduling and casting "from multiple angles."^9,10,11
