## Which Park Jin-young? GOT7's Jinyoung and JYP founder J.Y. Park

In Korean entertainment, "Park Jin-young" refers to two people. One is the subject of this page: Jinyoung, born on September 22, 1994, a member of GOT7 and an actor. The other is Park Jin-young, known as J.Y. Park, the singer-producer who debuted as a singer in 1994 and founded JYP Entertainment. Jinyoung debuted at that very company, and GOT7's debut single, "Girls Girls Girls," was written and produced by J.Y. Park himself. Because of the shared name, Jinyoung debuted under the stage name Jr. (Junior). In a January 2014 debut interview the members explained that leader JAY B (then JB) and Junior "had no choice because of their real names" — Im Jae-bum and Park Jin-young. On August 16, 2016 Jinyoung announced, "From today I will be active as Jinyoung, not Junior," switching to a stage name taken from his given name. In drama and film credits he appears under his full name, Park Jin-young. The simplest way to tell them apart is birth year and affiliation: if the profile says born 1994, GOT7 or BH Entertainment, it is Jinyoung; if it says founder or producer of JYP Entertainment, it is J.Y. Park. [1,3,4,5,24]

## When did GOT7 debut?

GOT7 first performed in public at a garage showcase in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, on Wednesday, January 15, 2014. The Korea Times reported that the group officially debuted the next day, Thursday, January 16, on Mnet's M Countdown. Its first EP, Got It?, came out on January 20. It was JYP Entertainment's first new boy group in six years, since 2PM. January 16 is the date marked as the anniversary: on January 16, 2025 the members posted selfies on the group's official social media to thank fans on the 11th anniversary of their debut. [1,2,7,13]

## Who are the members of GOT7?

At debut the Korea Herald noted that Jackson is from Hong Kong, Mark from the United States and BamBam from Thailand. JB and Jinyoung had previously worked together as the duo JJ Project. The seven-member line-up has stayed the same since the group left JYP in 2021, and all seven took part in the January 2025 EP Winter Heptagon. [1,6,12]

## Did GOT7 leave JYP, and where does the group stand now?

The GOT7 members' contracts with JYP Entertainment ended on January 19, 2021; on January 11 the agency said the two sides had agreed not to renew, "hoping for a new future." The members moved to different companies but kept the group name. The following year, 2022, they signed with Warner Music Korea as a group and released the EP GOT7. On January 20, 2025 they released Winter Heptagon, their first full-group EP in about three years, to mark their 11th anniversary; Kakao Entertainment handled the album's planning and production. On military service, JAY B and Jinyoung completed theirs in November 2024. Yugyeom enlisted in late September 2025 and is due to finish in March 2027, and Youngjae began his service on November 27, 2025 and is due to finish in August 2027, according to reports. The 2026 reports checked for this page do not mention a new full-group album or concert date; in 2026 the members are working individually. [6,10,11,12,14]

That evening he held a livestream on BH Entertainment's official YouTube channel. [7,8,9,10,21]

## Solo music and concerts

Jinyoung released his first solo album, Chapter 0: With, in January 2023. On May 13, 2026 he released his second EP, Said & Done, his first in about three years: five tracks, including the lead single "Everlove," for which he wrote the lyrics, and "17," whose lyrics he co-wrote with Day6's Wonpil. In September 2026 he announced his first solo concert tour, Code#, opening in Seoul on November 7–8 before stops in Osaka, Tokyo, Manila, Taipei, Bangkok and Macao. [9,18,20,21]

## What is he doing now? As of October 2026

Jinyoung is the male lead of 100 Days of Deception, tvN's 16-episode 20th-anniversary drama. Set in Gyeongseong (Seoul) in 1932, it is an espionage romance about a pickpocket, Lee Ga-kyung (Kim You-jung), who goes undercover inside the Japanese Government-General of Korea, and an elite interpreter. Jinyoung plays that interpreter, Sato Hideo (Kim Tae-woong), the adopted son of the colonial government's director-general of political affairs. It is directed by Yoo In-sik and written by Rhyu Bo-ri. The series premiered on October 10, 2026 and also streams on Netflix.
